THE CITY

Wonderful land of condottieri

The ancient Umbrian Naquinium was later renamed Narnia by the Romans. Imposing traces of its strategic position are still to be seen along the Roman Flaminian Way.It was also the birthplace of one of the most valiant captains of fortune, called Gattamelata. The city is famous today for having inspired the Chronicles of Narnia written by the author C.S.Lewis and made into a very famous movie. In 1979 a group of local young people discovered an underground passage behind a closet. It was an exceptional discovery that brought to light a fascinating world linked to the Inquisition Tribunal and Free Masonry.
